Bhubaneswar: At just the beginning of this year, plethora of big and good films is reeling in to the theatres with much expectations and hope. After the grand success of Dangal, the first movie of the Indian cinema making a record breaking box office collection of 350+ crores, despite the current demonetization that our country is going through, the movie market has shown great business in show biz.
However, this week we have new movies to talk about. Five, to be more specific.
The quality and movie experience of the Odia industry has sure been refined in a positive way in the current timeline. With better cameras, locations and stories, Ollywood is taking the show biz market of Odisha by storm. We have already seen one big release within the first week of this year.
On Friday, the 13th, Sarthak Production released “Dil Deewana Heigala“, starring Babushaan Mohanty and Seetal, with supporting cast Mihir Das, Aparajita, Bijaya Mohanty, etc. The movie is expected to do good business due to the exceptional fan following of the lead actor and the excellent past records of Sarthak Production. The film is directed by Sudhansu Mohan Sahoo.
The other movie that released this Friday and had a clash with the Sarthak Movies is the first venture of Shree Movies’ recent flick, “Tumaku Dekhila Pare“, starring Siddhant Mahapatra, Sambeet Acharya, Jhilik, Naina Dash, etc. This movie is directed by Chandan Mahapatra.

With Mainstream Indian Cinema, Bollywood has been ruling since the beginning of the era. This Friday, one of the early releases of 2017, has been two movies with completely different taste and factors.
From the house of the famous Dharma Productions and Madras Talkies, comes a modern age love story, “OK Jaanu“, starring Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. The director of the movie is Shaad Ali, protege of the famous Director Mani Ratnam and the Music is contributed by the Maestro A. R. Rahman. Infact, this movie is the official remake of the Tamil movie, “O Kadhal Kanmani (OK Kanmani)“, which is written, directed and produced by Mani Ratnam. The Tamil version was a great success and had garnered many appraisals when released. We have to wait and see the fate of “OK Jaanu”.
In the path of less used road, comes another critically acclaimed movie, “Haramkhor” by Shlok Sharma, starring one of the best actors of Bollywood, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Shweta Tripathy. This movie is not a mainstream media kind of movie, which is why it serves the fate of bad luck as the movie is not released in Odisha, resulting in people missing an experience of an indie movie. The movie had already been in the controversial side before because of the decision by the Censor Board to not release the movie early on because of various reasons. Fortunately, it did release this Friday with a U/A Certificate.
Now, the best for the last. Hollywood as always, swept the ground underneath the brilliance of Indian Cinema as it releases one of the most grand films at the beginning of the year, “XXX : Return of Xander Cage“. The movie is a sequel to “XXX“, released in 2002 and with a business of $270+ million. The movie stars Vin Diesel, Samuel L. Jackson, Donnie Yen, Tony Jaa and our own Deepika Padukone!. It’s the debut for Deepika with one of the most ingenious actor Vin Diesel, with one of the most popular movie franchise. The movie is stuffed with high end action and adrenaline and has released in 3D in Odisha.
With so much options in hand, it is quite difficult to choose a winner among the lot.
