Little ones seen writing their first alphabets
Saraswati Puja is also the day little ones write their first alphabets. It is believed that children who are initiated into the world of education on this auspicious day develop a creative bent of mind.
Keeping with tradition, preparation for the world famous Shri Jagannath Rath Yatra begins in Puri on the Saraswati Puja (Basant Panchami). The day marks the procurement of wood for the chariots, the first step towards the Rath Yatra.
As the ritual goes, ‘anukul’ of the chariot wood (‘rath katha’) has happened on this auspicous day. After puja, the wooden logs were taken to the corner at ‘Dalavedi’.
