Symposium on Physics in KIIT International School

Bhubaneswar: “Acquiring skill is more important than securing good marks and certificates in education,” said Dr. Harish Chandra Verma, Renowned Physics Professor of IIT Kanpur. Delivering lecture on concept of Physics through live practical to school children in KIIT International School Dr. Verma said, “Today science is an integral part of life. Science can not see as isolation. During his lecture he inspired students not to run after good marks and certificate by giving examples from his life. Poor grade card or good grade card does not matter. Both are irrelevant. But the skill I had developed during my students’ career has helped me. Getting good grade card and securing position in school, board and university examinations is temporary recognition. But your recognition depend on what kind of skill you developed. You have to develop confidence and competence to take challenges which can very big or small. You can achieve your goal by accepting challenges. Our examination system is not evaluating our inner capacity, giving too much importance on marks and grades.”

Advising students, he also said, “Don’t depend on solutions, books and tutor. Solve the problems by yourself. Today’s society is knowledge society and how much knowledge you acquired that matter,” said Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT and KISS. Advising students he also said, “The knowledge you have acquired will help you in your life.”

Dr. Mona Lisha Bal, Chairperson of KIIT International school gave welcome address while Dr. Sanjay Suar, Principal proposed vote of thanks. Students of many schools joined the programme.
