Bhubaneswar: The World Trade Centre (WTC) Bhubaneswar observed the first World Trade Day on the theme “International Trade – Gateway for Odisha’s Prosperity” here on Friday.

Development Commissioner cum Additional Chief Secretary R Balakrishnan attended the event as the Chief Guest and highlighted on the tremendous potentials of Odisha in various sectors.

Department of MSMEs Principal Secretary LN Gupta praised and thanked the MSMEs for their achievement in exports by the State which has increased 100 per cent over the last year.

IDCO CMD Sanjay Singh shared various infrastructural initiatives taken by the State Government.

The key speaker Dr Pankaj Jha spoke on the theme, “Defining the Future Road Map for India-ASEAN Economic Relations-Role of Odisha”.

On this occassion, the WTC hosted its annual members meet and recognized the outstanding contributions of MSMEs, small businesses, companies and businesses that have excelled in penetrating international markets by presenting them with awards under four categories namely Small Business Global Trade Award, MSME Export Achievement Award, Business Leadership Award and Innovative Enterprises Award.

Batoi Systems Pvt Ltd has received the Small Business Global Trade Award.

Batoi’s Founder Director and CEO Mr. Ashwini Rath received the award from Mr. LN Gupta, Principal Secretary of the Department of MSMEs, in the presence of Development Commissioner cum Additional Chief Secretary R Balakrishnan, IDCO CMD Sanjay Singh, Y R Warerkar (Executive Director, WTC Mumbai and Director WTC Bhubaneswar) and Ms. Rupa Naik (Director – Projects, WTC Mumbai) apart from other entrepreneurs of Odisha and officials of WTC Bhubaneswar.

The event was part of the numerous initiatives taken by the WTC to assist local entrepreneurs foray in the global markets and enhance the competitiveness of Odisha.
