Bhubaneswar: Acclaimed artists Deepak Maharaj and Salil Bhatt, both sons and disciples of two of India’s legendary artists Kathak maestro Pandit Birju Maharaj and Grammy awardee Mohan Veena, exponent Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, respectively, performed at Rabindra Mandap here on Sunday at the concert – ‘Smritiyaan’.
The concert commenced with solo Kathak recital by Deepak Maharaj from New Delhi, who belongs to the illustrious family of Kalka-Bindadin gharana. He was accompanied by Pranshu Chatur Lal the grandson of Chatur Lal on Tabla and by Ghulam Waris on Sarangi.
This was followed by the performance by Salil Bhatt, the creator of Satvik Veena. He was also accompanied by Pranshu Chatur Lal.
The concert was jointly organised by the New Delhi-based Tabla Wizard Pandit Chaturlal Memorial Society and the well-known Bhubaneswar Music Circle (BMC).
