Bhubaneswar: Kalinga Stadium is all set for the opening ceremony of the 22nd Asian Athletics Championships to be held Wednesday evening that will witness performance by over 500 artistes.

The State Government has roped in renowned artists from across the country to showcase the art and culture of the state to the global audience.

As per official sources, Prince Dance Group and Zenith Dance Group are roped in to perform acts based on themes of Odisha’s glorious past, heritage, culture, Buddhist connection with other countries and modern time.

Renowned Odissi dancer-choreographer-guru Aruna Mohanty and her troupe will also perform.

Besides, Bollywood singer Shankar Mahadevan is also roped in to perform the Rangabati song and his popular breathless numbers during the opening ceremony.

It is noteworthy to mention that near about 800 athletes from 45 countries would participate in 42 sports events during the four-day sports extravaganza hosted by India for the third time. Delhi hosted the championships in 1983, while it took place in Pune in 2013.
