Bhubaneswar: Young dancers enthralled the audience at the event titled ‘Upasaranam’ organised by Srjan founded by eminent Odissi dancer Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra at Rabindra Mandap here on Tuesday.
The objective of the event is to discover new talents in Odissi dance and creating an opportunity for them to perform on a major platform.
The first presentation of the evening was Mangalacharan Ganjesha Bandana set to taal Aadi Tala and raag Mishra Shudha Bibhas. The dance was choreographed by Guru Ratikanta Mohapatra and music was composed by Pandit Hariprasad Chourasia.
Mangalacharan was followed by Pallavi set to Rag-Vasant and Tala-Eka Tali. The dance was choreographed by Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra and music was given by Pandit Bhubaneswar Mishra.
The next presentation was Mahadev set to Rag-Raag Malika and Tala – Tala Malika. The dance was choreographed by Guru Ratikanta Mohapatra and music was composed by Debasish Sarkar followed by Pallavi set to Raga-Megh, Tala-Jhampa, music by Pradeep Kumar Das and dance choreographed by Guru Ratikanta Mohapatra. Evening next item was Swagatam Krishna set in Raga-Mohana and Tala-Khemata. The music was composed by Oothukkadu Venkat Subbaier and dance was choreographed by Guru Ratikanta Mohapatra.
The concluding presentation was Nrutya Aabhinya Vande Mataram set to Raga- Desh and Tala- Eka Tali. The original music was composed by Shri Jadunath Bhattacharya and dance choreographed by Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra.
