Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday inaugurated a model degree college at Nayagarh through videoconferencing.
This was one of eight model degree colleges being set up in educationally-backward districts of the state, where the gross academic enrollment ratio of eight is less than the national average of 14.
The Nayagarh college offers eight honours courses in arts stream, five in science and one in commerce at the degree level, with each honours course having a capacity of 32 seats.
The teaching and non-teaching staff for the college have already been recruited.
Seven more similar colleges are being set up in Boudh, Deogarh, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Rayagada and Sonepur in the first phase, which would ensure quality education for the students.
