Bhubaneswar: Janmashtami, which marks the birth of Lord Krishna, was celebrated with much gaiety and religious fervour across the city today. The temple city Bhubaneswar donned a festive look.
Tens of thousands of people comprising of women and children flocked to the local temples to catch one glimpse of the Lord and offer their prayers. The Iskcon Temple and Ram Mandir witnessed a huge footfall.
The temples were decorated with elaborate flower arrangements, huge balloons and beautiful lamps.
The festivities were not limited to temples. Fancy dress competitions were organised in schools which attracted children of all age groups. Apart from this cultural programmes dedicated to Lord Krishna were also organised.
