Bhubaneswar: With barely 10 days left for the Durga Puja, organisers across the city are busy making elaborate arrangements for the celebrations. Though decorations in Bhubaneswar mandaps are not as grand and expensive as in Cuttack, over the years Durga Puja in the capital city has also assumed grand proportions.
The Puja committees have come up with unique ideas this year for pandals in the city for which huge bamboo structures have been built.
Most puja committees have invited idol-makers from Kolkata.
Like every year, the Old Station Bazar Puja Committee, one of the oldest in the city, has targeted children as its main audience and is all set to come up with decorations to suit the fancy of kids.
Nayapalli, one of the biggest mandaps in the city, is erecting a replica of the majestic Lakshmi Vilas Palace of Vadodara in Gujarat. The mandap also organizes Ravan Podi, a meena bazaar, a crafts fair and cultural show.
According to sources, one of the most visited pandals in the city, the Saheed Nagar Durga Puja pandal this year will resemble that of a Buddha temple at Thailand.
Similarly, the Jharpada Durga Puja Committee is targeting to pull children and youth and is planning something interesting for them.
Since the past few years, Rasulgarh Puja Committee has also been attracting a large number of visitors due to a huge stage and eye-catching decoration. They are hopeful of attracting a good crowd this year as well.
