Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik presented the Biju Patnaik Award for Wildlife Conservation for 2016-17 to Chakradhar Hembram of Mayurbhanj for his outstanding contribution in the field of Wildlife Conservation.
Hembram was honoured at a function on Saturday marking the 63rd State Level Wildlife Week celebration here.
Hembram was given Rs 2 lakh, citation and a shawl.
Patnaik also congratulated the award winners of different competitions held on the occasion of the state level wildlife week celebration.
On this occasion, Shri Patnaik also announced that the ex gratia compensation for human deaths caused by wild animals in the state has been enhanced to Rs 4 lakh. It was earlier Rs 3 lakh.
Among others, Forest and Environment Minister Bijoyshree Routray, Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Sandeep Tripathy and Additional PCCF (Wildlife) H K Bisht were present.
