Rain Likely to Play Spoilsport on Diwali, Kali Puja

Bhubaneswar: Moderate to heavy rain in the city and other parts of the state is likely to dampen the festive spirit on Diwali, which coincides with Kali Puja.

Shoppers in the city had a difficult time as they stuck up amidst heavy showers in the afternoon on Wednesday.

The regional Met centre has predicted heavy rainfall in Odisha during the next 24 hours as the low pressure over the Bay of Bengal was likely to intensify into a depression.

Met office said, strong and gusty surface wind with speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph will blow along and off Odisha coast.

The Sea condition is likely to be very rough and fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea.

Heavy rain has been predicted in districts like Ganjam, Gajapati, Khurda and Puri while slight to moderate rain in other parts of the state.
