Bhubaneswar: As many as 1,022 senior citizens left for a pilgrimage to Ajmer and Pushkar in Rajasthan on a special train flagged off by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at Bhubaneswar railway station here on Thursday.
The State Government has made special arrangements for the senior citizens under the scheme Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatri Yojana. The scheme, an initiative of the state Tourism Department, is meant for the senior citizens to give them a chance in the lifetime to visit the important pilgrimage centres of the country.
Before flagging off the special train, Naveen entered a coach, sat and had a chat with the pilgrims inquiring about their well-being. Senior citizens from different districts are undertaking the journey.
