Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rainfall across the state from December 07, under the influence of a low pressure area formed over the south Andaman sea.
According to the Met department, the well-marked low pressure system over south Andaman sea and the Strait of Malacca now lies over north Sumatra coast with associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8km above sea level.
The system is expected to become a depression over southeast Bay of Bengal in the next 36 hours and move towards north Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh coast.
Reports indicate that nearly 18 districts of Odisha mostly in southern parts are likely to experience heavy rainfall.
The rain forecast has emerged as a major concern for farmers, who are already reeling from crop loss due to unseasonal rain last month.
