Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar on Saturday became the first city of Odisha as well as eastern India to get compressed natural gas (CNG) station for use by two and three wheelers.
Two CNG stations for scooters and three-wheelers were inaugurated at Chandrasekharpur and Patia area here by Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Two more stations are being constructed in Khandagiri and Tamando area in the state capital. In coming years, 25 CNG stations will be commissioned in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to supply CNG to vehicles.
The minister also launched CNG-run scooters here.
Earlier, CNG for scooter and three wheelers were available only in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai .
