Bhubaneswar: Odisha continued to remain in the grip of a severe cold wave with the minimum temperature on Sunday falling to 3 degrees Celsius in Daringibadi in Kandhamal district, the coldest in the state.
The mercury plunged below 10 degree Celsius across 13 places affecting normal life, with the district headquarters town of Phulbani, reading the minimum temperature of 4.5 degree C.
Normal life has been badly affected due to the cold condition with locals preferring to stay indoors after sunset. Roads and streets wear a deserted look during evening hours. At many places, people are seen huddled near bonfires to keep themselves warm.
The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar however, remained warmer recording minimum temperatures of of 12 and 13 degrees respectively.
Official sources of the meteorological centre here said the cold wave is likely to continue for few more days.
