Bhubaneswar: The 20th edition of the four-day annual Golden Beach Festival at Chandipur in Balasore district began today.
The festival will be a fun-filled cultural extravaganza and will witness a number of cultural activities, including dance performances every evening. Local artistes and cultural troupes from various states will take part in the festival.
The dances to be performed this year include Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Chhau, Ranapa, Kathak, Ghumar and Bihu, apart from Odissi and Sambalpuri.
Apart from this, stalls would be put up at the site for the local artisans to display handicrafts, handloom and other products made by them.
According to sources, the local defence units, especially Proof and Experimental Establishment (PXE) and Integrated Test Range (ITR) will participate in the festival to showcase their guns, artilleries and missiles.
Other attraction this year would be parasailing in the beach and rafting in sea water.
Like previous years, the festival is expected to witness large number of tourists from various parts of the state and the country.
