Bhubaneswar: Normal life in Odisha’s interior and forested districts continued to be affected as mercury levels dipped below 10 degrees Celsius in most places, the Meteorological office said.
The districts affected by cold conditions are Kandhamal, Koraput, Kalahandi, Keonjhar, Angul, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundergarh, Bolangir, Sonepur and Dhenkanal.
Temperature dipped further to a biting 3 degree Celsius in Daringbadi, the lowest in the State, while Phulbani shivered at 3.5 degree Celsius on Wednesday.
Normal life has been badly hit due to the cold wave condition with locals preferring to stay indoors after sunset. Roads and streets have been wearing a deserted look during evening hours in rural and semi urban areas.
People are seen huddling around fire to warm themselves.
The IMD forecast has said that moderate cold conditions is likely to prevail over some places of Odisha till January 15.
