Bhubaneswar: In a move to attract tourists to the site and to establish Chilika on the global tourist map, Forest and Environment Department in association with Odisha Tourism Development Corporation and Chilika Development Authority (CDA) is organising a 2-day bird festival at Chilika that began on Saturday at Mangalajodi.
Starting from ornithologists to amateur birdwatchers and bird lovers took part in the maiden event and enjoyed flocks of migratory birds in the beautiful lake.
On the first day, a workshop on the diversity of birds along with film shows was organised. Apart from this, the winning entries of a photography and painting competition that was organised before the festival was displayed on the site.
On the second day on Sunday, there will a bird watching session, where participants will be taken to various places in and around the site, including Nalabana, Barkul, Rambha bay and Satapada.
