Bhubaneswar: The 14th edition of the three-day Dhauli-Kalinga Mahotsav hosted by Orissa Dance Academy (ODA) and Odisha Tourism in association with Art Vision (Bhubaneswar) is all set to begin at the foothills of Dhauli Peace Pagoda from February 09.
The festival contains cultural multiplicity and a whole range of diverse stream of performing arts, be it classical, folk or martial. The festival is a unique confluence of more than 500 artistes belonging to various art forms of Indian dance tradition and it celebrates “unity in diversity”.
This year, the festival will feature instrumental fusion by Bhubaneswar-based Shivangi, Bharatnatyam by renowned Padma awardee Leela Samson and Group from Chennai, Kathak by Vidha Lal and Group from Delhi, Kuchipudi by Pratikshya Kasi and Group from Bengaluru and Mallakhamb from Puri and Mayurbhanj Chhau from Baripada.
During the festival, ‘Buddha Samman’ will be conferred on Padma Vibhushan Sonal Mansingh, for her lifetime contribution to dance.
This Samman carries a citation and cash award of Rs. 1,00,000.
Besides, the prestigious Gangadhar Pradhan Smruti Samman will be conferred on four eminent personalities of the different fields. They are Dr S. K. Tamotia, Atulya Mahakud, Dhaneswar Swain and Bhagirathi Das. Each of them will receive a cash award of Rs 25,000 and a citation.
