Bhubaneswar: Theatre lovers of the city were in for a treat as artists staged multilingual plays at the 20th Kalinga Natya Mahotsav at Rabindra Mandap, here that concluded on Thursday.
The festival began with an Odia play Bisanna Bharata. On the second evening, a stage adaptation of the Bengali classic movie ‘Bancharamer Bagan’ in Odia was staged by theatre group Shatabdira Kalakar.
A hindi play Moulana by Himachal Cultural Research Forum and Theatre Academy, directed by Suresh Sharma, was presented on Tuesday.
A Bengali play ‘Long March’ by Alternative Living Theatre from Kolkata was staged on Wednesday.
The festival ended with a Hindi play Bapu by Nata Mandap from Patna.
During the festival, Sumitra Samman was conferred on actress Smt. Mamata Mohanty, Alekh Samman to playwright Rabindra Nath Das and Lifetime Achievement award was conferred on Satabdira Kalakar Hemanta Kumar Sarangi.
