Bhubaneswar: The fourth edition of the two-day annual International Radio Fair ‘Outreach International Radio Fair-2018’ began at Bhanja Kala Mandap here on Monday.
Celebrating Radio and World Radio Day and increasing Radio listenership is the main objective of this event.
Thousands of old and new radio sets, old and new radio equipments, DRM, auxiliary studio and many other antique items are exhibited at the fair.
Apart from this, there is a radio repairing shop to repair old ones.
Handmade radio shop and selfie zone is another attraction for the visitors.
Simultaneously, meetings, seminars and cultural programs including western, classical and folk dance were performed during the fair. Near about 200 artists performed.
Padmashree Sudarsan Patnaik also created a sand sculpture at the venue.
Five persons and organisations were awarded with Outreach National Radio Award 2017 for excellence in broadcasting. Legendary broadcaster Kamal Sharma was conferred with ‘Life Time Achievement Award’ this year. RJ Devangana from Jaipur of Rajasthan received the ‘Popular Radio Presenter of the year’ award. Suresh Agrawal of Kalahandi was honoured with the ‘Radio Listener of the Year’ award and SOA FM of Bhubaneswar received the ‘Community Radio Station of the year’ award. Similarly, Amateur Radio Convention and Conference Samity of West Bengal received the ‘Best Use of radio in Public Service’ award.
