Bhubaneswar: The 14th state-level theatre festival organised by one of the premiere theatre institutions of the State, Panchamveda got underway in front of a capacity audience on Monday. The five-day festival will present an array of interesting plays at Rabindra Mandap here.
The host theatre troupe, Panchamveda, staged a comedy play ‘Thia Palla‘ on the inaugural day. The play, written by Prakash Maharana is directed by veteran Haren Sahoo. The play showed how nursing homes and hospitals are playing with human lives for their own benefit.
This year Panchamveda conferred the Pancham Veda Samman on two theatre personalities. The recipients of the award are Karunakar Samal and Shankar Tripathy.
On the second day, theatre troupe, Kala Parishad from Dhenkanal staged a play “Siddhanta”.
