Bhubaneswar: The three day ‘Mayurbhanj Utsav’ organised by the Mayurbhanj Cultural Association, Bhubaneswar is all set to kick start at Utkal Mandap, here from today.
A replica of Jwalamukhi Temple, one of the 51 shakti peeths of Goddess Shakti, located in Mayurbhanj, will be created during the event.
Popular artistes from the state will take part in the event.
The main purpose of the event is to promote and propagate the culture and heritage of Mayurbhanj district.
Further, the event also provides a platform to artistes from various places of the district to showcase their talents. The famous Chhau dance, Jhumuri dance and songs, folk dance would be presented apart from the shows by noted personalities from Odia film industry who hail from Mayurbhanj district.
Besides, stoneware of Khiching, the tussar textiles, pressed sal leaf plates, sabai grass products and other forest products will be displayed in a number of kiosks at the crafts fair.
In addition, the visitors will have an opportunity to relish the famous cuisines of Mayurbhanj, including Mudhi-Mansa Dala Khechidi and Ram Ruchuka at the food kiosks.
