Bhubaneswar: Mayurbhanj Utsav, which was organised by the Mayurbhanj Cultural Association at the Utkal Mandap, concluded here on Sunday.
The three-day-long festival aimed to promote and propagate the culture and heritage of Mayurbhanj district. Popular artistes from the state took part in the event.
The fair attracted a large number of visitors who had the opportunity to witness the artistes performing Chhau, Mayurbhanj’s folk dance. The artistes, with vibrant costumes and swords, showed great vigour and energy.
Performance of the melodious Jhumar songs by artistes in the festival also mesmerized the audience.
A number of dance recitals portraying the life and culture of various tribal communities of the district were also presented apart from the shows by noted personalities from Odia film industry who hailed from Mayurbhanj district.
The visitors also relished the culinary delights of Mayurbhanj. The non-vegetarians could get the taste of mudhi mansa, (puffed rice combined with mutton in gravy), the unique culinary delight from the district.
The vegetarians could get the taste of mouthwatering dishes like Dala Khechudi and Ram Ruchuka curry of the district.
Besides, stoneware of Khiching, the tussar textiles, pressed sal leaf plates, sabai grass products and other forest products were displayed in a number of kiosks at the crafts fair.
