Bhubaneswar: The five-day Rukuna Rath Yatra of Lord Lingaraj ended here on Wednesday. Braving the scorching heat, thousands of pilgrims attended the return car festival (bahuda yatra) of the deity.
Rukuna Rath is also called ‘Analeuta’ chariot (the chariot that does not take a turn). Going by the convention, the Rukuna chariot is tugged from the backside without taking a turn.
Adequate arrangements were made for drinking water and rest sheds for devotees to beat the heat.
The Rukuna Ratha Yatra precedes the famous car festival of lord Jagannath held in June or July every year at Puri.
