Bhubaneswar: In a bid to give a boost to the technical education sector, on the sidelines of the two-day Odisha Skills competition, the opening ceremony of which was held in Cuttack on Saturday, as many as five memoranda of understanding were signed in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and senior government officials at IDCO Exhibition Ground, here on Sunday.
Of the five, a Letter of Intent was signed between the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) in the field of Internet of Things (IoT) and Robotics and Entrepreneurship.
Dr. Tobias Stapleton, Assistant Vice Chancellor and Director of University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) signed the LoI on behalf of the University with his counter part Prof. Chitaranjan Tripathy from BPUT University.
The objective of this partnership is to explore the development of a Center of Innovation and Excellence and related services at the BPUT University and to develop and promote course offerings, research and student exchange in the areas of academic disciplines of interest to BPUT such as IOT, Robotics and Entrepreneurship. The collaborative effort includes the establishment, management, support and operations of the BPUT CIE at College of Engineering & Technology, Bhubaneswar and the entrepreneurs at the facility. The partnership would also explore, developing and managing trade channels and cooperation between the entrepreneurs at the CIEs at BPUT and the UMass, other commercial entities, governmental officials and agencies in both India and the USA.
Apart from this, a seminar was also organised in which delegates such as Tim Kobe, renowned architect, Tobias Stapelton, Assistant Vice Chancellor and Director of University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), and Sopendu Mohanty, Chief FINTECH, participated.
