Bhubaneswar: “World Music Day” was celebrated by music lovers of Odisha on Thursday.
Several musical programmes were organised by various cultural organisations in the city to mark music’s significance and importance in normal life.
Utkal University of Culture, Madanpur, celebrated this day. Odissi guru and scholar Ramhari Das graced the occasion as the guest of honour.
A musical evening on ‘Odia Chhanda’ was organised by Bhubaneswar Music Circle at Rabindra Mandap. The evening witnessed performance by Guru Keshab Chandra Rout and Group.
This day is also known as ‘Fete de la Musique’ after a music festival that began in France in 1982. Over the years, World Music Day, has become an important summer event in several countries including India.
