“Van Mahostav” Week Celebration Started


Bhubaneswar: The 69th Van Mahostav was observed here at a state level function in Bhagwanpur High School premises on Monday.

Chief minister Shri Naveen Patnaik was the Chief Guest of the function and inaugurated the function along with other ministers and Government officials.

Van Mahostav is an annual tree planting festival in the month of July. During this festival thousand of trees are planted all over India and celebrated as a festival of life.

The festival educates the awareness of trees among public and portrays the need of planting and tending of trees, as trees are one of the best ways to prevent many ecological problems.

As part of the celebration, Odisha government has planned to plant about 40 lakh saplings all over the state and to plant at least two crore trees on the bank of the Mahanadi river.

This celebration will continue for one week, till July 07, 2018.
