Bhubaneswar: Artistes paid rich tributes to Odissi doyen guru Debaprasad Das on his 32nd death anniversary at Rabindra Mandap here on Monday.
The Shraddhanjali Samaroh organised by dance institute Tridhara, witnessed back-to-back performances over three sessions. Odissi recitals were staged throughout the day from 9am to 9pm by artistes. Around 550 students of various Odissi gharana performed at the event.
Debaprasad Das’s granddaughter Bagmishree Das also performed on the occasion.
The evening session saw stellar performance from Japanese dancer Kaori Naka. Guru Sudhakar Sahoo who was the first disciple of Debaprasad Das also performed Abhinay on a song – “Ea ghora barsha kale priya dasa rasa aadarare basi thiba”. His Abhinaya brought him a standing round of ovation from the audience.
