Bhubaneswar: Students of the city-based Abyss School of Music rendered melodious tunes on their eight annual day celebrations held at Rabindra Mandap here on Monday.
Abyss School of Music, the brainchild of the five members of the band The Abyss was started in collaboration of Trinity College of Music, London, in 2009.
The school that began with 40 students today imparts training to over 150 students. Since its inception, the school has been preparing students for the graded examinations of Trinity, in piano, electronic keyboard, guitar, and drums.
Around hundred students of the school participated in the concert. The line-up of programmes included popular classical solos like Mozart’s Turkish March on piano, symphonies like Top Gun, Pirates of the Caribbean, Scarborough Fair, Dil Diyan Gallan, Chariots of Fire, Carols of the Bells and National Anthem.
Band performances on peppy numbers like Shape of You, Love You Zindagi, Black Betty, Rock Around the Clock, I Love Rock and Roll and Dil Chahta Hai regaled the audience.
On this occasion, two students of the institute namely Subir Digal and Adarsh Chand Jain were felicitated for being the toppers of the practical and theory exams for the year 2017, respectively, of Trinity College.
Abyss, one of the oldest bands of Bhubaneswar, keeps playing at different shows.
