Bhubaneswar: The seventh edition of the two-day annual monsoon festival “Megha Utsav” that celebrates the season with cultural programmes begin at Rabindra Mandap here today.
The festival brings together poets, dancers and singers, who collectively praise the season that brings rain and gaiety.
On the inaugural evening, singers Ramahari Das and Ira Mohanty performed. Thereafter, dancers from Gunjan Dance Academy showcased Odissi recitals under the tutelage of Meera Das.
On the concluding evening of the festival on Wednesday, singers Minati Bhanja performed.
This was followed by young singers performing modern Odia songs.
This was followed by students of Aruna Mohanty’s Odisha Dance Academy showcasing pure Odissi recitals.
Later, a troupe from Bargarh staged Sambalpuri folk dance.
On the sidelines of this festival, an art exhibition on the theme of monsoon will also be hosted by artists of the Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi.
