“Ekaika” – Solo Odissi Dance Recital by Danseuse Diptimayee Sahu


Bhubaneswar:Danseuse Diptimayee Sahu has performed a brilliant solo at a dance recital titled “Ekaika” that brought in the choreography of Guru Debaprasad Das and her Guru Gajendra Panda that was staged at Rabindra Mandap, here on Thursday.

The recital witnessed the danseuse showcasing Odissi moves that is a blend of maturity and playfulness, mystery and engagement.

The evening began with Krishna Bandana. The item based on Raga Malika and Tala Malika, invoked a spiritual feel.

Sabhinaya Pallavi (Mangala), followed the invocatory piece. This was followed by Abhinaya, Nabarasa, Astapadi and Mokhya.

With subtle moves and deep expressions, the danseuse rendered a fine balance between grace and energy.

The compositions were accompanied by melodious tunes put to symphony by musicians such as Sri Binod Chandra Panda and Smt. Sangeeta Panda. A number of musical instruments such as the mardala, flute, sitar, manjira and ukuta accompanied the recital.
