Janmashtami Celebrated with Religious Fervour across Odisha

Idol of Lord Krishna Decorated with Natural Flowers on the Occasion of Janmasthami at Ram Temple, Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Denizens of the state celebrated ‘Janmashtami‘, the birth anniversary of Lord Shree Krishna, today with much fanfare and religious fervour.

In Bhubaneswar, devotees were seen visiting the Isckon temple to celebrate the occasion. Ananta Basudeva temple and Ram Mandir also saw huge crowds. All the temples made special arrangements for the morning puja on the occasion of this once in a year celebration.

In Puri Srimandir, the birth anniversary of lord Krishna is being observed with rituals, besides other parts of the state.

On Janmashtami, most people either fast or go on a pure vegetarian diet that is free from onion and garlic. Fasting devotees were seen making a beeline at temples to catch a glimpse of the deity.

Janmashtami marks the beginning of preparations for celebration of Durga Puja with collection of clay for Goddess Durga’s idols.
