Bhubaneswar: The four-day 58th National Open Athletics Championships organised by Odisha Government’s Sports & Youth Services Department, kicked off at Kalinga Stadium, here, today.
Around 805 athletes from across the country are taking part in the sporting extravaganza.
A 15-member team including international athletes Purnima Hembram, Jauna Murmu, Amiya Mallick and Parbati Sethi will represent Odisha in the event.
Apart from this, the championship will also feature medal winners for India at the recently held Asian Games 2018.
As per sources, while the qualifying rounds will be held in the morning between 7 am to 10 am everyday, the medal events will be held from 6 pm to 10 pm in the evening.
It is noteworthy to mention that this is the second major athletics championship to be hosted here after the 22nd Asian Athletics Championships that was hosted in July last year.
