Bhubaneswar: Poet Satrughna Pandav received the Sarala Puraskar instituted by Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust (IMPaCT), the charitable wing of Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys (IMFA).
He was felicitated with cash award of Rs. 5 lakh and a citation at a special event organised at a hotel in Bhubaneswar on Friday, for his poetry collection ‘Misra Dhrupad’ and for his overall literary achievements.
Besides, two more personalities were also honoured for their contribution in the fields of music and art. While noted tabla player Umesh Chandra Kar was felicitated with the ‘Ila Panda Sangeet Samman’, Binod Maharana received the ‘Ila Panda Chitrakala Samman’. They received a cash award of Rs 1.5 lakh each along with citations.
The Sarala Puraskar, instituted by eminent industrialist late Bansidhar Panda and late Ila Panda in 1979, is recognised as the foremost literary award of Odisha.
