Bhubaneswar: Kartika Purnima, the full-moon day of the holy month of Kartika, was celebrated with religious fervour across the State today.
Boita Bandana is a mass commemoration of the maritime glory of the people of Odisha, which was known as Kalinga in ancient times. People from different walks of life floated tiny paper boats in ponds, rivers and other water bodies to celebrate Boita Bandana ritual.
The last five days of auspicious month of Kartika are called as Panchuka of which last day is known as Kartik Purnima.
Meanwhile, Bali Yatra, the 10-day trade fair in the State organised to commemorate the sea voyages, will be inaugurated today evening on the banks of Mahanadi river.
