Bhubaneswar: The first edition of the .FEST (Bhubaneswar City Festival) organized by Bhubaneswar Development Authority in collaboration with Odisha Tourism kicked off with all pomp and gaiety at the IDCO Exhibition Ground, here on Saturday.
The festival, which coincides with the ongoing Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2018 hosted in Bhubaneswar, saw an astounding turnout of thousands of attendees from different parts of the world.
The .FEST will take visitors on a complete culture trip that will include activities like international street food festival, cultural events, international storytelling festival and adventure trails.
The International Street Food Festival is showcasing delicacies of global cuisines from more than 16 countries, cuisines from all states of India and authentic food specialties from Odisha including Dahi Bara, Alu Dum, Muga Bara, Chaula Bara, Ghuguni, Kakera, Manda Pitha, Arisha Pitha, Chhena Poda, Rosagola etc. by leading hotels and restaurants of the city.
The hotels taking part will have international chefs preparing the cuisine. While some chefs are in-house, some are being flown down from other countries like Malaysia and Japan, to make the street food specialty of their country as authentic as they possibly can.
Bollywood music composer duo Vishal and Shekhar graced the opening ceremony of the festival. With power-packed performances and frequent interactions with the crowd, they kept the music lovers hooked to them throughout their show.
Other artists such as Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Farhan Akhtar, Shaan, Sona Mohapatra, Rituraj Mohanty, Noorani Sisters and Krishna Beura will be performing over the course of the festival.
The festival will also host storytelling sessions by local and international storytellers. Audiences will also be entertained by popular stand-up comedian Biswa Kalyan Rath and can listen to soft, romantic ballads by singer Shreya Ghoshal.
The .FEST will conclude on December 16.
