Bhubaneswar: Intense cold wave condition swept across Odisha with Phulbani, the district headquarters of Kandhamal, recording a low of 7 degrees Celsius on Friday.

A thick blanket of fog engulfed many parts of the district reducing visibility. People were seen warming themselves by burning wood and coal.

Temperature plummeted below 12 degree celsius in ten other districts. While Daringbadi shivered at 8.5 degrees, the minimum temperature recorded in the State Capital was 13 degree Celsius.

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast that night temperature is likely to fall further by 2 to 3 degrees at several places in the next 3-4 days.
