Bhubaneswar: The 11-day annual Sisir Saras Mela organised by the Odisha Rural development and Marketing Society under the Panchayati Raj Department in association with the Odisha Khadi & Village Industries Board, the Directorate of Handicrafts & Cottage Industries and the Mission Shakti kicked off at the Exhibition Ground, here on Friday.
As many as 300 stalls showcasing the handicrafts, handlooms, household articles and rural products of 23 states have been put up at the fair.
Handloom and cottage products, cane and bamboo works, handicrafts made of carved wood and stone, durry carpets, dry flowers, wooden artefacts, jute bags and pattachitra paintings are some of the major attractions at the fair.
Food kiosks selling natural ingredients, spices, pickles and traditional delicacies from various parts of the country are also available in the fair.
The fair will also have cultural performances by troupes from various states and Odisha in the evenings during the event.
The fair aims to provide a platform to rural producers and craftsmen to market their products.
