Bhubaneswar: The 18th edition of the Barabati Nrutyotsaba is set to start at the Killa Maidan in Cuttack from today.
An open-air stage with the Barabati Fort as backdrop has come up at Killa Maidan for the five-day festival, organised by the Odissi Nrutya Mandal in association with the tourism department and the district administration.
Dancers and groups from different parts of the world would be performing different dance forms during the festival.
This year, for the first time, a book fair organised by the state department of Odia language, literature and culture will also be part of dance festival.
As many as 30 stalls or kiosks will be provided free of cost to the publishers of the state to participate in the fair. As per sources, meeting of poets and a recitation session will also be organized as part of the fair.
The first Barabati Nrutya Sanman would be conferred on pioneering Odissi dancer Padmashree Minati Mishra during the festival.
