Bhubaneswar: The fourth edition of Tata Steel Bhubaneswar Literary Meet (TSBLM) began here on Friday.
The three-day festival, which celebrates and seeks to promote the rich heritage of Odisha, was inaugurated by celebrated poet laureate Mr Jayanta Mahapatra, in presence of several noted dignitaries.
Anand Sen, President of TQM & Steel Business at Tata Steel, MP Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, veteran Bollywood actress Waheeda Rehman among others graced the occasion.
The inaugural session of the festival, saw celebrated historian Sugata Bose discuss Mahatma Gandhi’s relationship with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. This was followed by a session with legendary actress Waheeda Rehman who participated in the interactive session and discussed on her iconic roles in movies. The eventful day concluded on a lighter note as the audience at the event were entertained by acclaimed stand-up comedian Abijit Ganguly.
A large number of school and college students, writers, publishers along with professionals attended the festival on the inaugural evening.
This year, Odia sessions to discuss Gandhi in Odisha, the legacy of Fakir Mohan Senapati a century after his demise, ‘Becoming Odia’’ among other issues, will feature prominently in the festival.
Among others, participants at this year’s Literary Meet include legendary writer Ruskin Bond and acclaimed singer Rekha Bhardwaj. Other speakers of note are Ravinder Singh, Vineet Bajpai, Aatish Taseer, Jayant Kripalani, Bikram Grewal, Nicholas James, Nabina Das, Sucheta Mishra, Ileana Citaristi, Mitra Phukan, Kishwar Desai, Charles Assisi, NS Ramnath, Prajwal Parajuly, Debashish Panigrahi, Hussain Haidry, Pritish Acharya, Dash Benhur and Ananta Mahapatra.
