Bhubaneswar: Vietnam invited micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) of Odisha in sectors particularly, Food Processing, Travel, Tourism, Pharma, Health Care, Handloom and Handicraft for trade with the country.
His Excellency Mr. Phan Sansh Chau, Ambassador of Vietnam appealed the entrepreneurs here on Tuesday while discussing on the seminar titled ‘Credit and Marketing Linkage to MSMEs and Exporters’ that was organised on the sidelines of the second day of the ongoing Odisha MSME International Trade Fair-2019.
Chau expressed his happiness that the quantum of trade between India and Vietnam has increased by 40 per cent during 2018.
Citing the analogy of MSMEs in Vietnam with that of Odisha, he suggested for adopting “Consume Goods and Services in Odisha”. He also interacted with members of different industries associations in a separate meeting in the afternoon to explore potential of trade promotion in varied sectors.
MSME minister Prafulla Samal said his government has prioritized development of MSME sector with a slew of policy initiatives and incentives to promote growth and employment in the state.
LN Gupta, MSME department secretary, said 99 percent of enterprises relate to micro category. He suggested for conducting a fresh census of MSMEs by the Union government to ascertain the ground status of these enterprises.
He said about 473 bank branches have been designated as MSME specialized branches across the state and requested these enterprises to take advantage of them. He also advised the local MSMEs to register under government e-market (GeM) for expanding their market outreach throughout the country.
Sudhir Garg, CMD of national small industries corporation (NSIC) and joint secretary Union ministry of MSME, showed his willingness for signing an memorandum of understanding between NSIC and state MSME department to facilitate handholding and providing marketing support to MSMEs of Odisha.
MK Mall, regional director, RBI Bhubaneswar, discussed about the direction of RBI for extending credit to MSMEs. Praveena Kala, chief general manager, SBI Bhubaneswar, highlighted on developing repayment culture and modalities for availing of loan.
