Bhubaneswar: Theatre lovers of the city are in for a treat as artistes are showcasing a variety of play at the 21st edition of the annual Kalinga Natya Mahotsav – a national multilingual theatre festival that started at Rabindra Mandap, here, on February 03.
Organized by Satabdira Kalakara – a premier theatre institute of the State, the festival will conclude on February 07.
The inaugural evening of the festival featured Odia play ‘Dashavatar’ by host ‘Satabdira Kalakar’ troupe and directed by Dhira Mallick.
On the second evening of the festival, another Odia production ‘Ghara’ was staged by host ‘Satabdira Kalakar’ troupe and directed by Darpa Narayan Sethi.
The third evening showcased Assamese play ‘Ekalavya’ staged by ‘Purba Ranga’, a Guwahati based group, under the direction of Gunakar Dev Goswami.
Similarly, on the penultimate evening of the festival Sambalpuri play ‘Simna Kanthi’ shall be showcased by ‘Shree Cultural Association’ of Sambalpur, that is directed by Satya Narayan Behera.
The concluding evening of the festival on Thursday shall feature Hindi play ‘Apradh’ directed by Prof. Arun Mallick and enacted by Anand Theatre of New Delhi.
