Bhubaneswar: Theater lovers in the city got to enjoy different kinds of plays in the 2nd edition of the Bidyakanak Srujananusthan Theatre Festival that was organised at Rabindra Mandap, here that concluded recently.
City-based theatre group, Bidyakanak Srujananusthan staged an adaptation of Bahubali in the play named “Mahismati” that touched the audience.
Though the auditorium has only one performing area, two additional stages were created for the play. Besides, the actors also used the audience area.
Conceptualised and directed by Jagdish Prasad Maharana, the play had Prafulla Kumar Padhi, Naba Kumar Ghosh and Suryakant Panigrahi as assistant directors.
The fans of the city also enjoyed the Sambalpuri play, “Dwitiya Gandhi” written and directed by Subash Chandra Pradhan. The play staged by Mirror Theater from Belpahar spoke about the plight of farmers and the need of a second Gandhi who can think about them and give justice to these poor people. The play was appreciated by the audience.
During the festival, artiste Manidipa Mallick was awarded with the Bidyakanak Samman.
The festival aimed to provide young artists and directors with a platform to present their works and showcase their talents.
