Bhubaneswar: A severe heatwave continued to grip many parts of the state on Tuesday with Sambalpur recording the state’s highest at 45 degrees Celsius.
Normal life in western Odisha is completely thrown out of gear due to severe heat wave condition that had been prevailing for past one week.
At least 13 urban centres clocked over 40 degree Celsius – five of them over 42 degree. Hirakud and Jharsuguda recorded 44.4 degree and 44.2 degree respectively. Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 40.3 degree and 39.8 degree respectively.
The heat wave warning has been issued for 10 districts including Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Angul, Deogarh, Bargarh, Sonepur, Bolangir and Nuapada of Odisha till June 13.
