WTC Bhubaneswar Observes World Trade Day


Bhubaneswar: The World Trade Centre, Bhubaneswar (WTCB) observed the World Trade Day on June 22.

The programme was a part of the numerous initiatives taken by the Centre to assist local entrepreneurs foray in the global markets and enhance the competitiveness of the state of Odisha.

The thematic focus of the programme this year was “International Trade to Unravel the Challenges and Opportunities for India and Odisha”.

Chief Guest to the occasion Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal while addressing the august gathering highlighted the tremendous potentials of the state in various sectors. Prof. Lal said that, “With food we can take control of any country of the world, be it the USA or China or any other.”

Captain Dibya Sankar Mishra, State MSME Minister said, “We are committed for business friendly and small business friendly environment. We have single window clearance system.”

Captain Somesh Batra, Chairman, World Trade Centre Bhubaneswar and Vice Chairman, World Trade Centre Mumbai delivered the welcome address. Among others, Dr. Nitin Jawale, Managing Director, Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation of Odisha, Mr LN Gupta Additional Chief Secretary, Department of MSMEs, Government of Odisha and Ms Rupa Naik, Senior Director, World Trade Centre Mumbai and Director, World Trade Centre Bhubaneswar also addressed the members and delegates.

On this occasion, World Trade Centre Bhubaneswar also hosted its annual members meet and recognized the outstanding contributions of MSMEs, small businesses, companies and businesses that have excelled in penetrating international markets by presenting them with awards. The awards were presented by the guests to the selected members of the center.

World Trade Centre Bhubaneswar also signed three MoUs with industry partners namely Batoi Systems Pvt Ltd, Hotel & Restaurant Association of Odisha (HRAO) and with Sea Food Exporters Association of India Odisha Region (SEAIOR) .

Later, leaders from different think tanks at World Trade Centre Bhubaneswar like Mr Ashwini Rath, Convener, Start-up, Innovation and Technology Think Tank, Mr J K Mohanty, Convener, Tourism Think Tank, Mr Mahendra Gupta, Convener, Smart City and Infrastructure, Think Tank, Mr Pradipta Mohanty, Convener, Agriculture and Food Processing Think Tank, and Ms Sanghamitra Jena, Convener, Women Forum, presented their detailed account of activities and shared their plan for the near future.
