Bhubaneswar: The students from the Batch of 2019-21 from Xavier School of Human Settlements (XAHS), Xavier University, Bhubaneswar (XUB) will be going for the annual Urban Learning Experience (ULE) programme from November 14, 2019 – December 28, 2019.
The Urban Learning Experience is a core component of the Urban Management and Governance curriculum and serves to take students beyond what is taught in the classroom.
As part of ULE, students will be spending 6 weeks with an Urban Local Body (ULB) to understand the city and get on-site learning of organized interventions and city management practices. The students will be working on live projects while applying their classroom learning to understand the practical nuances in application.
This year, the students will be visiting the following ULBs in groups of 2 – Berhampur Municipal Corporation, Rourkela Municipal Corporation, Dhenkenal Municipality, and Konark Municipality.
They will further be studying their respective settlements with the objective of systematically documenting and analysing the urban area, including its issues and potentials, in a city report, identifying one prime issue in the town and proposing
an innovative solution, and engaging and providing assistance in the ongoing Jaga mission.
Affiliation to ULBs will guide the students in getting data and insights. Each group will be provided with a Reporting Officer (RO) and a faculty guide to facilitate the entire learning process and provide off-site guidance.
