Bhubaneswar: The students from the Batch of 2019-21 from Xavier School of Sustainability (XSoS), Xavier University, Bhubaneswar (XUB) will be going for the annual Sustainability Discovery Programme (SDP) from November 30, 2019 to December 30, 2019.

SDP is a uniquely designed 3 credit programme where in the students get an opportunity to discover their aptitude and attitude for implementing sustainability initiatives at the community level and aims at equipping the students to appreciate and analyse the initiatives undertaken by various agents for creating a sustainable world.

The programme also enables the students to explore and experience various sustainability programs and activities implemented by corporates, governments, and NGOs, thus developing a better understanding of the challenges in sustainability practices.

The principles of the program include unlearning and learning, to be a co-traveller, explorer and a synthesizer of head, heart, hand, and habit.

The students are divided into groups of two to four and will visit various organizations pan India. The students will be engaged in various activities such as micro research, wherein the host organization would engage the students in a micro study on an issue of common interest action project, community mobilization and organizing workshops, seminars and training programs that would involve the students, both as participants and as co-facilitators.

These activities will help the students appreciate the role of various stakeholders in promoting sustainability and applying various tools and techniques learned during SDP, in their workplace as sustainability professionals.
