Bhubaneswar: Intense cold swept across Odisha with the mercury plummeting to 5.4 degree Celsius in Sonepur, making it the coldest place in the state today.
Sonepur was followed by Angul, which recorded a minimum temperature of 5.6 degree Celsius, the Meteorological centre here said.
While Phulbani recorded a minimum temperature of 6.3, the mercury stood at 6.5 in Titlagarh, 7 in Daringbadi, 7.4 in Keonjhar, 8.5 in Bolangir, 8.5 in Balasore and Sundergarh, 8.7 in Sambalpur, 8.9 in Jharsuguda, 9 in Bhawanipatna, 9.2 in Koraput, 9.4 in Baripada and Talcher and 9.5 in Cuttack.
The mercury stood at 10.6 degree Celsius in state capital Bhubaneswar.
Cold wave conditions are likely to continue for the next few days in the state after which there is possibility of moderate spell of rain for two days.
